ProNotary is a technology platform that connects individuals, businesses, and organizations with independent notary professionals. ProNotary itself is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice, legal services, or attorney-client privilege.
All notaries in our network are independent contractors, not employees or agents of ProNotary. Each notary is commissioned by their respective state and operates under the laws and regulations of that jurisdiction. ProNotary does not supervise, control, or direct the notarial acts performed by these independent professionals.
A notary public's role is to verify the identity of signers, confirm willingness to sign, and witness the execution of documents. Notaries are prohibited from providing legal advice, drafting legal documents, or interpreting the content of documents they notarize. If you need legal advice, please consult a licensed attorney.
Some notaries on our platform offer Remote Online Notarization (RON) through their own provider software (e.g., Notarize, DocVerify, SAFE-BioPharma, or equivalent platforms). ProNotary does not host or manage the RON process. The actual notarization occurs via the notary's chosen provider software, which complies with state-specific RON laws.
ProNotary does not prepare, review, or store legal documents. Customers are responsible for providing the correct documents for notarization. If you are unsure which documents you need, please consult an attorney or the requesting party (e.g., your lender, title company, or court).
All signers must present valid, government-issued photo identification at the time of notarization. Acceptable forms of ID include:
Notary laws vary by state. Each notary on our platform is responsible for complying with the laws of the state where they are commissioned. This includes proper identification of signers, maintaining a notary journal (where required), and using approved notarial certificates.
While ProNotary strives to connect you with qualified, verified notaries, we cannot guarantee the outcome of any notarial act, the acceptance of notarized documents by third parties, or the legal sufficiency of any document. Customers are responsible for ensuring their documents meet the requirements of the receiving party.
ProNotary's liability is limited to the platform fees charged for the connection service. We are not liable for the acts or omissions of independent notaries, the rejection of documents by third parties, or any damages arising from the use of notarized documents.
